The Reel
With its known durable design to handle saltwater, the new Shimano Spheros SP4000XG SW Spinning Reel offers more confidence on the water thanks to its Shimano “SW Concept” features. With the combination of Hagane Gear, Hagane Body, X-Ship, Cross Carbon Drag system and CoreProtect, the Spheros SW is prepped to withstand the punishment of unforgiving saltwater environments for multiple seasons to come.

Aero Wrap II Oscillation System
Aero Wrap II is a worm gear oscillation system with a specially designed pitch to create optimal oscillation speeds for the Propulsion Spool Lip design. It provides uniform line lay and winding shape to prevent loss of energy during the cast while providing longer casts than other oscillation systems. So, casting distance increases with less effort required.

CoreProtect
The concept of CoreProtect is simple – to provide water resistance without creating a heavy rotation feeling. There are three key areas of the reel the require protection; the roller clutch, the body and the line roller.

Cross Carbon Drag
The drag material provides a wider range of drag settings, along with the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever.

HAGANE Body
Hagane Body means this reel has a high rigidity and zero twist. The body stiffness and impact resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms the anglers actions directly into cranking power. It’s efficiency through strength.

HAGANE Gear
Hagane Gear is at the very heart of the reel and creates strength and durability. The entire cold-forging process is calculated in minute detail by special 3D design and the result is precision durability.

Propulsion Line Management System
The most obvious component of the Propulsion Line Management System is the new Propulsion spool lip design. Through tens of thousands of casting tests and computer simulations it has been determined that this new spool lip design provides longer casting distances than a standard spool lip design while preventing backlashes and wind knots from forming. It also allows the line to flow off of the spool in smaller loops during the cast which means less slap on the stripper guide.

Shielded Anti-Reverse Bearings
These bearings have been through the same process as the A-RB bearings, but feature shields on both sides of the bearings that reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the bearings’ rotation.

X-Ship
By supporting the pinion gear on both ends with the S-ARB bearings and integrating bigger drive gear, Shimano increased the gearing efficiency and power. This results in a fishing reel with ultra-light handle rotation; less effort and power giving a perfect rotation even under heavy loads.

The iconic Shimano TCurve Medium Spinning Rod is redesigned and upgraded to suit an array of fishing styles and techniques all throughout New Zealand. The blank technology features Shimano’s TC4 construction, which makes this rod extremely durable when fighting, as well as super sensitive when flicking those light lures. The guides are premium Fuji Faz Lite K frames, which promote long accurate tangle free casts.

Now featuring a sleek grey blank with slightly darker binding to add a modern feel. The butt of the rods features a mix of custom shaped EVA and cork, split grip, butt sections with a premium Fuji reel seat.
