Takes lures or baits to a consistent depth
Kilwell Trolling Fishfinder is a paravane – an
ideal aid when you are tying to locate schools of bait or
sportsfish. It takes the lure or bait down to where the target fish
are waiting. As it is important to rig the Trolling Fish Finder at
the correct settings to achieve the maximum performance and
results, please read the following instructions carefully.
1. Attachment. Either attach direct to a heavy rod and reel or use
a heavy cord hand line at least 10 to 15 metres long. Tie the
towing line to the front swivel on the Fish Finder using a uni or
blood knot. Attach a 1-2m monofilament trace to the rear swivel and
attach your favorite lure to the trace.
2. Depth Control. Attaching the snap swivel to the front end of the
Fish Finder will cause the unit to run shallow. The deepest
presentation is achieved by attaching the swivel at the rear
position. When deep trolling, shorten your towing line to avoid
fouling the bottom.
3. Tuning. Attaching the lure trace to the holes in either wing,
will allow the Fish Finder to track on either the port or starboard
side of the boat. Experiment until you are satisfied that the unit
is running to your satisfaction. Trolling depths and boat speed
should be varied until you start hooking fish.
Keep hooks, lures and swivels free of weed or debris. If Fish
Finder surfaces without a fish on the lure, check that all lures
are not tangled and adjust boat speed and towing line length and
angle.
